Freightliner Updates Safety and Comfort Features

This year, Work Truck Week went virtual! Freightliner announced a collection of exciting interior and exterior upgrades including safety enhancements in its vocational trucks.

New Seating Means Increased Driver Safety

Rolltek seating will be an option on the Freightliner M2 in the second quarter of 2022. Not only does Rolltek seating increase the safety of the driver in the event of a rollover on the highway, it also offers everyday comfort as well. The comfort features include:

• A 15-degree reclining seat
• Mechanical lumbar
• Cushion extenders

As a note, the cushion extenders are available in a variety of fabrics and finishes to meet the preferences of the customer.

A New Suspension System

The Haulmaax Ex has replaced the traditional Haulmaax suspension system. The Hendrickson Haulmaax suspension has been improved to increase durability and can be obtained in single and tandem configurations.

Fighting Fuel Tank Corrosion

Corrosion of fuel tanks due to magnesium chloride on the roadways has been a longstanding issue for drivers working in colder climates. To address this issue, anti-corrosion straps made of 80 ksi steel have been added to the design of the rectangular fuel tanks of the Freightliner M2 truck. Also, changes have been made to create better adhesion of the electro-zinc plates on the tank. This gives drivers and owners more peace of mind about the condition of a truck’s fuel tank especially when the temperatures drop way below zero and the roads freeze.

A Better Hood Mirror

The Freightliner M2 has a new option for mirrors. It offers a mirror on a swing arm mounted on the hood. To make this mirror more practical, the company is giving customers the option of having a heating element for the swing-arm mirror. Once again, this is one of those safety enhancements that is practically essential for drivers operating in colder climates.

Freightliner makes it a point to listen to owners and operators as it continues to come up with innovative upgrades. The company is dedicated to making cutting-edge improvements that increase both driver safety and overall vocational truck performance.
